Papa John's Pizza - American Pizza Takeout
Disclosure: This is a sponsored post by Papa John's Pizza, but the opinions below are my own.
I've passed by Papa John's many times before, but this is the first time I've given it a try. There are 14 locations in Edmonton, so it's easy finding the nearest pizza delivery on their mobile app or website.
I did my research and found the highest rated location according to Google reviews, and it happened to be the one at 14030A 23 Ave (and Rabbit Hill Rd). Since I had never been to a Papa John's before, I was surprised to find that it was takeout and delivery only with no seating. But there were a few chairs for people to wait for their orders. It wasn't a very long wait, and you could definitely call in ahead or order on the app or website. They also have a rewards program so you could get points for every order and redeem for free pizza!
There are lots of ongoing deals and the handout below only lists a few of them. Check out their website for other deals, and they occasionally offer promo codes on social media as well. I opted for the family classic deal of two medium 12" specialty pizzas for $29.99 (not listed below).
My first choice was Hawaiian BBQ Chicken since I'm definitely team pineapple when it comes to pizza. This did not disappoint! A solid American style pizza with a satisfyingly chewy but not overly tough crust. Also the BBQ sauce was tangy and much better than regular red sauce in my opinion. However, I did not enjoy the complimentary pepperoncino served on the side. It was very sour, salty, and spicy all at once and I just found it too overwhelming. I was never a fan of pickles though, so I'm sure many pickle lovers would enjoy this.
If you love beef and cheese, you're in luck since the Philly Cheesesteak pizza is back on the menu. One thing I like about Papa John's pizzas is that they are not greasy at all, even if they're loaded with cheese and meats. Personally I found the Philly Cheesesteak to be a bit less flavourful than the Hawaiian, but this is where the amazing garlic sauce comes in.
Now let's talk about that glorious garlic sauce provided with each pizza. It has the consistency of mayo but tastes just like pure butter with garlic flavour! It went so well with the Philly Cheesesteak, and the only reason I didn't lick up every last bit of sauce was because I was convinced it was butter and was worried about the fat content.
