Macau - Edo Japanese Restaurant (Sands Cotai Central)
I was quite hungry upon arriving in Macau in mid-afternoon, and quickly settled for an early dinner at Edo Japanese Restaurant in Sands Cotai Central, a large entertainment complex that houses my hotel as well as other hotels, casinos and numerous food and shopping outlets. What attracted me to this restaurant was the lunch special menu with set lunches starting from $98 MOP (~$13 CAD). But I actually ended up ordering the most expensive item on the menu — the assorted sashimi set ($208 MOP ~ $27 CAD). It was well worth the money though, because this multi-course meal was very good quality. First up was a refreshing salad and a simple appetizer of lotus roots and carrots.
Next was a piping hot bowl of miso soup filled with succulent mushrooms.
The star of the show was fresh assorted sashimi served with a warm bowl of rice and colourful pickled veggies on the side.
Then to finish off, a creamy cup of red bean ice cream for dessert.
I suppose the price point is a bit high compared to other local eateries in Macau, but I'm used to outrageous sashimi prices in Edmonton, so I thought this was pretty reasonable.
