Footo Delights

November 28, 2011
Footo stands for “fresh out of the oven”, a phrase that conjures up memories of the warm and comforting aroma of freshly baked pastries in the kitchen. The tiny store specializes in croissants both plain and filled. According to the website, their croissants contain “no artificial flavours or colours, preservatives or any other chemical additives.” The open kitchen in the back shows that they have nothing to hide. Half a dozen of the plain croissants cost $11.70 and the filled ones cost $17.10. It's a good idea to get at least 6 so that you don't have to pay tax. All of the flavours look really appealing, but I particularly like the almond with almond chips on top and sweet almond paste as filling.

The croissants are displayed on one side of the counter, and other food options are displayed on the other side. The store offers stuffed croissants for a quick and convenient lunch, as well as desserts like yogurt, mousse and tiramisu cups.

In my opinion, the croissants are worth a trip downtown because they are unlike any croissants I have tasted before. The shell is crispy and the bread inside is amazingly soft and buttery without being overly greasy. Of course it helps that the owner/baker is very friendly and the packaging is cute!

  6. @Brenda: I'm sure someone must have suggested this before, but what about coffee flavoured croissants?

@DLKBC: Glad you enjoyed them as well! I didn't see garlic when I went there last time, but I will definitely try them next time.
