Worldwide Cafe
Worldwide Cafe is a restaurant located in the Sheraton Four Points Hotel on Alexandra. The atmosphere is very casual, and the decor is simple.
The meal started with warm bread rolls, accompanied by soft balls of butter. I found this to be the best part of the meal because I was super hungry, and biting into the warm bread was so satisfying!
I came here tonight for the AAA prime rib dinner ($12.95), which included soup/salad and tea/coffee. The soup of the day was clam chowder. Yum... It was very creamy and there were lots of clams.
My mom ordered the salad with vinaigrette. It came with a few slices each of tomato and cucumber. Nothing special about this salad, just fresh greens with balsamic vinegar and oil.
Time for the prime rib! I ordered rare and it was red throughout. I think the chef cooked a large piece of prime rib, then cut it into slices to serve like in buffets. Parts of it were very tough... I could barely cut it up with the knife. There were 2 cherry tomatoes, 1 piece of broccoli, 1 piece of cauliflower, and a few pieces of potato on the side. Other than the potatoes which had been seasoned, the rest of the veggies were simply boiled in water and were flavourless.
The worst part of the meal was the tea. They used 3-4 teabags to brew a big bottle of tea, so the tea was very weak. I added milk to my cup, and the result was a milky watery liquid that did not taste like milk tea at all. The tea by itself tasted like hot water with a faint hint of tea flavour.
The quality of the food was slightly below average, but the prices were very reasonable. So this is a good place to go when you have a craving for a large chunk of beef for a cheap price. And Sheraton Four Points has one of the prettiest smoking areas I've seen. What a waste of this pretty space :(
